and this is what I heard Him say:
God spoke to me today from Exodus 32:1 which says: "… the people … gathered around Aaron and said, "Come, make us gods who will go before us. As for this fellow Moses who brought us up out of Egypt, we don't know what has happened to him." And this is what I heard Him say:
“Idolatry today is just as alive as ever! Not so much the graven image kind. Although that is prevalent in many places in the world. But in your western culture, a new kind of idolatry has arisen and there has never been anything quite like it. What is this new idolatry you ask Me? It’s the “selfie.” It goes much deeper than constantly taking a “selfie” with your iPhone. This idolatry goes virally through your whole life--including your spiritual life. How does it show up? It shows up in your worship of yourself. Self-centeredness. You are like the Israelites that focused entirely on themselves. They wanted and created a false self-centered idol to worship instead of Me. Today people reject My word as “old fashioned” and “out of step with their culture.” They reject My God-assigned gender for them and worship themselves declaring to be what they are not. They reject My God-assigned marriage between a man and a woman for their own self-gratifying gayness. They do so many more self-centered "selfies." Anytime you set up your own self-image as a replacement for the “image of God” you are a “selfie” idolater. Because Idolatry today is just as alive as ever you need more than ever to worship Me. So today, turn your spiritual iPhone away from yourself and point it at Me.”
