and this is what I heard Him say:

Read Genesis 36

God spoke to me today from Genesis 36:2 where it said, "Esau took his wives from the women of Canaan” and this is what I heard Him say:

“Don’t sleep with the enemy!  Getting a wife from the Canaanites was strictly forbidden (Gen 24:3, 37).  Esau knew that his family lived in Canaan (the world) but that they were not of Canaan (the world).  Nevertheless, Esau chose not just to live in Canaan (the world) but to marry it too.  The marriage to the world was ‘a source of grief to Isaac and Rebekah,’ as it should have been (Gen 26:35) since it was clearly against My will for Esau’s life.  Eventually, Esau would separate from the family and become the father of the hostile nation Edom.  Sometimes you too compromise with the world and view it as a temporary departure from My will for you.  You are to be in the world but not of it.  The world is not your friend; it is a hostile enemy because you belong to Me world (John 17:14).  It hated me long before it hated you.  So why would you compromise; instead ‘Don’t sleep with the enemy!’  Come out from them and live a recognizably separated, holy life today (2 Corinthians 6:17).”
