and this is what I heard Him say:
God spoke to me today from Leviticus 10:1-2 which says: “Nadab and Abihu … offered unauthorized fire before the LORD, contrary to his command. 2 So fire came out from the presence of the LORD and consumed them, and they died before the LORD.” And this is what I heard Him say:
“It’s not just what you do, it’s how you do it!” What a contrast between My servants Moses and Aaron, who came into My presence and My fire went forth to consume their offering (9:23-24); now consider Nadab and Abihu who came into My presence and My fire struck them dead. I know you’re asking yourself what was the difference? Moses and Aaron did exactly what I commanded, whereas Nadab and Abihu did contrary to what I commanded. It’s not just that they did most of what I required, they also distorted what I commanded them to do. Not much has changed. Marriage between a man and a woman is what I command, yet there are those who take partners of the same sex. Such people are like Nadab and Abihu who took strange fire into their censers. Any such thing that distorts what I command is worthy of My divine judgment. You still need to be careful that you do not do contrary to what I command. A day will come when the world will be judged according to what each has done (2 Cor 5:10). So today, think about how you are doing what you are doing because“it’s not just what you do, it’s how you do it!”
